The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed veteran quarterback Michael Vick and placed backup quarterback Bruce Gradkowski on the injured reserve list. Vick, 35, signed a one-year contract with the Steelers, the details of which were not disclosed by the club. In 2014, Vick started in three games for the New York Jets, going 1-2, with his lone win coming against the Steelers on November. He finished the season 64-for-121 for 604 yards, two touchdowns, three interceptions and a 68.3 passer ... Read More

COLUMN: Vick decision has nothing to do with ‘Steelers way’
Reports surfaced late this morning that the Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing in free agent quarterback Michael Vick for what will essentially be a job interview later today. This is in the wake of the news of that Bruce Gradkowski will need surgery to repair a dislocated finger in his non-throwing hand, leaving the Steelers precariously thin at quarterback. As it stands right now, the Steelers only have one healthy quarterback to back up Ben Roethlisberger and that is the still very much a ... Read More
Michael Vick reportedly to meet with Steelers
Since training camp started, the backup quarterback position has been heavily scrutinized for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Whether it be the poor play of Landry Jones or injuries to Bruce Gradkowski, the need to bring in another option has been there for general manager Kevin Colbert. One name out there currently without a job is Michael Vick. That possibility could become a reality as according to ESPN's Adam Schefter as Vick is reportedly on his way to meet with the Steelers on ... Read More
COLUMN: Is Kang a serious ROY candidate?
Four months ago, if you would have asked if Jung Ho Kang would have a chance at winning the National League’s Rookie of the Year Award, the answer would have been a “no.” But then July rolled around, and Kang’s stats changed to .379 AVG/.443 OBP/.621 SLG (1064 OPS, 201 wRC+) and turned the competition on its ear as he helped the Pirates to a league best 17-9 in July. It does not come as a surprise that he’s good. With 40 home runs and a 1.198 OPS for the Nexen Heroes in 2014, the Buccos’ ... Read More
Steelers sign OL Doug Legursky
With Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey now on the shelf, the Pittsburgh Steelers had to address their lack of depth at center. They did that on Tuesday by bringing back a familiar face. The team announced that they have signed free agent offensive lineman Doug Legursky. Legursky previously spent time with the Steelers from 2009-12. He is most known for being thrown into the fire, having to start for an injured Pouncey in Super Bowl XLV when the Steelers lost to the Green Bay ... Read More
Happ wins second straight as Bucs manhandle Marlins
The Pittsburgh Pirates moved to 27 games over .500 for the first time since 1992 with a 5-2 victory Monday night against the Miami Marlins. Andrew McCutchen played in the 1,000th game of his major league career and had two RBI when he hit his 30th double of the season in the third inning. His double put the Pirates in front by a 2-0 score. J.A. Happ [2-1] has now allowed one run in his last 19 innings of work, an ERA of 0.47. He allowed no runs on four hits and has allowed just six hits in ... Read More
Cervelli’s health has been key for Pirates
When Francisco Cervelli was traded from the New York Yankees to the Pittsburgh Pirates, expectations immediately rose. He was, after all, replacing Russell Martin. Martin was a clear leader of the Pirates and was well-liked by his teammates and fans as well as the media. Martin was known for having a tireless work ethic and was always willing to put his teammates needs above his own. "It’s been so much fun to see him thrive in this environment, take charge, learn and get better," catching ... Read More
Is the pace of play initiative losing steam?
Perhaps the biggest change going into the 2015 MLB season was the pace of play initiative. The big push was that there would be a timed clock for inning breaks and new pitchers. Many have deemed the pace of play as a welcome addition and Pittsburgh Pirates union representative Neil Walker has stated that he has not heard any backlash. “Halfway through the season, guys were very happy with where it was and how we were doing," Walker said. "They told us to keep it up. I haven’t been told ... Read More
Steelers lack of depth being tested early on
The Pittsburgh Steelers won their first preseason game on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, but ultimately they came out losers in the end. Like any preseason game, the outcome on the scoreboard doesn’t matter as much as coming out of the game healthy. That didn’t happen for the Steelers as injuries to Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey and second-year defensive end Stephon Tuitt could turn out to prove costly for the black and gold. Pouncey, who was in a soft cast and on crutches ... Read More
