The Steelers offensive line is getting an overhaul this week against the Baltimore Ravens. Multiple players have been switched to different roles in hopes of a strong, steel-like lineup. Luckily, included in this hopeful Steelers lineup is one man in particular: Heath Miller. With the Steelers shuffling the offensive line due to multiple injuries, they are beyond lucky to have a tight end of quality and quantity that represents the position with hefty experience and beast-like eagerness to win. ... Expanding Jason Grilli’s role in 2013
Jason Grilli should be the Pirates closer in 2013. Yeah, I said it and this is why. Grilli, who in 2012 pitched one less inning than Joel Hanrahan, gave up 1 less homer, 14 less walks, and had 23 more strikeouts. He did give up 5 more hits and 1 more earned run. Grilli is a free agent as of now and is getting looked at by other teams for their closer role while the Pirates are trying to re-sign him as a set-up guy. I say no. The Pirates should go into the upcoming winter meetings wanting to ... Read More
Steelers must lean on ground game
Without Ben Roethlisberger, the Pittsburgh Steelers are given little to no chance of beating the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday and it's easy to see why. The Ravens have won four straight games against the Steelers with Ben Roethlisberger starting in three of those games. On top of that, the Ravens have won their last 13 games at M&T Bank Stadium. We already know the Steelers' defense needs to replicate its performance from two weeks ago when they held Baltimore to six points. So what ... Read More
Pirates sign Russell Martin to two-year deal
Over the past few days, the Twitterverse has been buzzing about the top free agent catcher Russell Martin possibly becoming a Pittsburgh Pirate. While it seemed hard to believe that Martin would choose the small-market Pirates over the New York Yankees, his team for the past two years, Martin did just that. Wait what? The Pirates actually beat the Yankees for a top free agent? As first reported by Ken Rosenthal, the Pirates have agreed to terms with Martin pending a physical. Although ... Read More
The Backyard Brawl, A Brawl to Remember
As far as postgame press conferences go, it was unusually riveting. West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez stood at the podium, ashen-faced, shell-shocked, and fighting back tears as he prepared to face the media. No more than 25 feet away, in the visitor’s locker room, the Pitt Panthers could be heard celebrating triumphantly. After mumbling through some answers, the exasperated losing coach searched for the right words to describe what had just happened. “Nightmare. Just a flat-out ... Read More
Dixon concerned about Panthers’ rebounding
Win or lose, one thing that Pitt Panthers' head coach Jamie Dixon can almost certainly depend on is the fact that his team will crash the boards. Usually always one of the best rebounding teams in the nation, the Panthers can usually be counted on to limit opponents to one shot per possession and usually can create more than a few second shot opportunities for themselves at the offensive end. However that hasn't been the case the past three games as Pitt hasn't done a great job rebounding the ... Read More
Could injuries actually be a good thing?
Every year players get injured. It's going to happen, it just depends who and how bad of an injury. But is it possible that injured players could possibly be a good thing for a team? The Steelers have been decimated by injuries this year. That is not my opinion, it is a fact. No team is 100 percent healthy, and that is completely understandable. But, I don't believe there is another team out there that has any more key injuries than the Steelers. The biggest and most obvious key injury has ... Read More
Previewing the Big East/SEC Challenge
While ACC/Big Ten Challenge gets considerable more coverage, there is another challenge that is going on this week. It involves the Big East Conference and the SEC. This will be 6th year that the two conferences face off but only the second where there will be 12 games played as the first three years there were only four games played between the conferences. This challenge will get a considerable makeover in the coming years as the Big East is in state of realignment. As for now, I am going to ... Read More

We Are….In the face of adversity, Penn State showed its true colors
The 2012 Penn State University football team may reside as one of the most beloved and talked about Penn State football teams ever. They didn't go undefeated or win a Big Ten Conference Championship. However, the obstacles that this team overcome being in the shadows of the Jerry Sandusky scandal after one of the most trying years that any Division I school has gone through, earned them a spot in the ring of honor where every undefeated and Big Ten championship team that Penn State has had is ...
