Optimism Part Two?
In case you may have forgotten, hockey is that sport in which players don heavy sweaters and bladed skates, all while pushing a hard rubber disc along the ice and into a net. It’s understandable to not remember what it looks like. After all, it’s been five months since the sport has graced our television sets. The news wire has been slow over the past couple weeks. Since the NHL owners spurned the rebuttal offers of the NHLPA, both sides have hunkered down for a deeply bitter battle. However, ... Read More
Tino Sunseri Still Doesn’t Get How to be a Leader
A lot has been said about Pitt Panthers' quarterback Tino Sunseri over the years and despite putting together a solid 2012 campaign, for the most part Pitt fans still hate the fact that Sunseri is still under center for the Panthers. Much of that has to do with his up-and-down performances, but a lot more of the issue is the fact that Sunseri has failed to improve both on and off the field in three years as the Pitt starter. For me, the problem with Sunseri doesn't have much to do with his ... Read More
Pittsburgh Steelers Report Card in Win vs. Giants
The Pittsburgh Steelers managed to do something they haven't done all season on Sunday afternoon- beat a good football team. Before erasing a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to win their third consecutive game, the combined record of the teams the Steelers beat was 12-18. That wasn't necessarily their fault as before facing the Giants on Sunday, the Steelers played a very soft schedule to that point, facing only one team over the .500 mark (Denver). However we learned a lot about this team ... Read More

Perimeter shooting was the story all night long for the home team. Seven different players for the Dukes made three-point field goals, while the team as a whole went 48.4 percent on the night. True freshman Derrick Colter provided the initial spark, hitting two from behind the arc in the first minute and a half of the ballgame. Sean Johnson ... Read More
Pirates Hire Jay Bell, Whoopty Doo
The Pittsburgh Pirates finished the 2012 season with the third lowest batting average in the National League. They also had the fourth lowest OBP in the majors and the third most strikeouts. So what did the Pirates do to remedy this problem? They went for nostalgia and hired Jay Bell. Surprise, surprise. Yes, nothing says "improve our hitting" like a former shortstop with a career .265 average. Never mind the fact that his last coaching gig was for the Arizona AA affiliate Mobile ... Read More
Steelers beat Giants, referees in thriller
The Steelers won a definition of a barn-burner tonight by a score of 24-20. Despite arriving in New York early today, the Steelers overcame being the underdogs and beat the Superbowl champion Giants. Ike Taylor intercepted Eli Manning late in the first quarter and the Steelers would cash in and jump on the board first. Ben Roethlisberger hit Emmanuel Sanders for a four-yard touchdown on a tremendous catch as he was able to tap his feet in the end zone . The Giants answered with a touchdown ... Read More
