Coming off their best win of the season Saturday against Syracuse, No. 23 Pitt had to be careful not to fall victim to the classic "trap game" Monday night against the struggling Seton Hall Pirates. For 30 minutes, they nearly fell into that trap. The Panthers broke open a 36-34 game at the 10 minute mark of the second half, by going on a 20-12 run to escape with a 56-46 win to improve to 19-5 on the season and 7-4 in Big East Conference play. Pitt had problems getting into a rhythm for ... Read More

Pitt back in Top 25 following upset of Syracuse
Following their biggest win of the 2012-13 campaign, the Pitt Men's Basketball team finds itself ranked once again. Pitt improved to 18-5 on the season and was impressive enough against the Orange that they garnered enough votes to climb back in the rankings. It could have been a more impressive week had the Panthers ... Read More
The Super Bowl that Could Have Been
If I take my personal allegiance to the Steelers away, there is one play in Super Bowl history that stands above all others for me. It was Super Bowl XXXIV, the Rams and the Titans. Six seconds remained; Tennessee was down 23-16 and had the ball at the Rams 10-yard line. One last chance to punch it in. The late quarterback Steve McNair dropped back in the pocket (maybe the only time he threw from the pocket that game) and suddenly saw a streaking Kevin Dyson at the five-yard line. Dyson ... Ravens edge out 49ers in a game for the ages
Superbowl XLVII was one for the ages. The second half will not be forgotten for years to come and featured the fantastic play of some old faces and new faces. The opening drive featured a three-and-out from the 49ers, but Baltimore didn't waste any time when they got the ball back. Joe Flacco took seven plays to drive the team down the field before hitting Anquan Boldin for the first touchdown of the game. San Francisco responded with a scoring drive, as they were able to put a field goal up ... Read More
Super Bowl Weekend Mock Draft
Steelers 2013 Mock Draft: Round 1.) Dion Jordan, OLB, Oregon Jordan has the look of one of the next monster pass rushers in the NFL. He is very athletic at 6'6" and around 250 pounds. Jordan also has great quickness off the edge and has been compared to San Francisco 49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith. Jordan may still be a bit raw and may need time before stepping in as a starter which could drop his value a bit. If he falls into the Steelers laps they will likely take him without much ... The Pittsburgh Housewife: Super Bowl, The Bus, Ward, and Pens all in one breath
I have been relatively quiet the past two weeks. I know, I know. I have had to divert my attention for a short while to some awesome personal and professional endeavors. Today though… today was one of those days I wish I was off for the game more than ever. Next to the Flyers, the Capitols are the team I hate the most. I despise them. I can’t stand them. And oh do I love it when the Pens wipe the ice with them! This was one of those games. I did get a bit nervous there for a bit when the ... Read More
An Early Look at Pirates Pitching Roster Battles for 2013: Pitching Staff
Earlier this week, we took a deep look at the Pittsburgh Pirates roster battles by position. Today we will take a gander over to the pitching staff, where several key changes have once-again given the Bucs a new look on the rubber. The 2012 Pirates opened the season with veterans LHP Erik Bedard and RHP Kevin Correia at the back of the rotation, both expected to provide the team with solid innings pitched. Bedard was a total flop, never regaining any semblance of the form he had shown in ... Read More
Kunitz’s hat trick powers Pens
Chris Kunitz scored a hat trick and Sidney Crosby recorded three assists as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Washington Capitals 6-3, at the Verizon Center, Sunday afternoon. After the Capitals scored on a fluke goal off the boards in the second period, the Penguins rebounded to score three straight goals within seven minutes of each other, then relied on back up goaltender, and former Capital, Tomas Vokoun to shut the door in the third. The Penguins, as they had in seven of their ... Read More
Pittsburgh’s true Passion
"The difference between the old ballplayer and the new ballplayer is the jersey. The old ballplayer cared about the name on the front. The new ballplayer cares about the name on the back." - Steve Garvey There is no greater moment in sports than to watch a team win a championship. At that moment when the pitcher records the final out, the quarterback takes the final kneel or the point guard launches the ball in the air in celebration, you can see it. You see the joy that the players have. The ... Read More
Make it Nine in New York
Duquesne’s losing streak stretched to nine games Saturday night with a 68-60 loss before 4,991 people at the Reilly Center in Olean, NY. Duquesne (7-14, 0-7) remains the only team in the Atlantic 10 without a conference win. Duquesne was plagued by some rough patches early on that eventually lost them the game. They committed 10 turnovers in the first half and failed to complete a 2nd half rally, despite coming to within four with 1:06 to play. Ferry pointed out the turnovers as the main ... Read More
