Pitt cornerbacks not passing early season test
Heading into the 2014 season, the secondary looked to be the Pitt Panthers biggest weakness. And despite starting the season 3-0, there were still many questions about whether or not the Panthers’ defensive backs could play good enough football to beat quality teams. We got that answer during Saturday’s tough loss to Iowa and going forward, Pitt’s secondary could be what prevents Paul Chryst’s team from having a big season. Everything went right against Delaware, but even during the ... Read More
Can James Harrison make an impact for Steelers?
Last night we were given the news per Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the Pittsburgh Steelers and James Harrison would reunite one more time. This of course, came after rumors swirled after an Instagram video showed Harrison asking his children if it might be ok to come back and "play one more year." Just mere days after Harrison officially retired a Steeler, he's back. Harrison will rejoin the team today, and immediately begin preparations for Sunday's game at home versus the ... Read More
Cutch and Liriano drop Pirates magic number to two
Francisco Liriano threw six shutout innings and Andrew McCutchen put the only run on the board to help the Pirates beat the Braves 1-0 on Monday night. Liriano had some control issues on the night allowing three hits and walking four, but was able to keep the Braves (76-80) off of the board. The only major threat came against him in the bottom of the first inning. Emilio Bonifacio walked to start the game and advanced to second and third on two stolen bases. Freddie Freeman then walked with ... Read More
Pens drop preseason opener to Red Wings
Pavel Datsyuk had a goal and an assist to lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 2-1 victory over the Penguins in Pittsburgh Monday night. Mike Johnston’s squad was outmatched from the puck drop, as the Red Wings iced a squad composed mostly of regulars against many of the Penguins’ minor-leaugers. Marc-Andre Fleury made 18 saves on 20 shots but took the tough-luck loss. Rookie Matt Murray played a scoreless third period in relief. With 3:55 remaining in the second period, Datsyuk collected a ... Read More
Steelers Expected to Sign James Harrison
After suffering a number of significant injuries on the defense in Sunday night's victory at Carolina, the Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to sign former All-Pro and 2008 NFL Defensive Player of the Year James Harrison. Harrison, 36, was signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2002 and he played ten seasons there from 2004 to 2013 before being released. He then spent one season on the Cincinnati Bengals before retiring. Now that second-year linebacker Jarvis Jones and rookie Ryan ... Read More

Steelers Storm Into Charlotte, Roll Over Panthers in Primetime
Consider for a moment everything that you thought you knew about the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1) and the Carolina Panthers (2-1) prior to Sunday night's game in Charlotte and promptly throw it all out the window. In a 37-19 victory for the visiting Steelers, very little went as many expected, which is quite alright for the fans of the black and gold. Pittsburgh dominated in nearly all facets, taking advantage of a weakened Panthers offense, rare turnovers and miscues, and a powerful rushing ... Read More
