Though few will look at the Pittsburgh Steelers win yesterday against the winless Jacksonville Jaguars as a game to remember, the Steelers got a much needed road victory, pushing their season record to 3-2. Can this win be a catalyst as they head to Cleveland to face a much improved Browns squad? If the performance is any indication, there is certainly a good bit of work still left to do. Let's take a look at the Week 5 report card. Quarterback: Another steady performance by Ben ... Read More

Steelers do just enough to defeat Jaguars
A Brice McCain interception return for a touchdown was enough for the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2) to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-5) on Sunday at EverBank Field. It was the only scoring play of the fourth quarter and the only touchdown in the second half, increasing what was just a 10-9 lead early in the final quarter. The Steelers defense was strong throughout the day despite solid play at times from rookie QB Blake Bortles, holding the home team to just three field goals. Ben ... Read More
Former WPIAL star Delrece Williams back in the game
It’s no secret that the WPIAL produces some of the country’s top football talent. There are plenty of NFL players who claim Western Pennsylvania as their stomping grounds. In the 2010 season, WPIAL on-lookers may remember a stiff battle for the area’s top rushing title between Hopewell’s Rushel Shell and Steel Valley’s Delrece Williams. Shell has since set the career-mark for WPIAL rushing yardage by gaining over 9,000 yards on the ground, signed to play at Pitt and has moved on to West ... Read More
Pay the man
There have been many men that have stepped up for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2014 season helping them make their second straight playoff appearance. One man that has been consistent throughout and a staple for this squad is Russell Martin. When the team signed him prior to the 2013 season, fans questioned his abilities. Martin hit .211 with 21 home runs and 53 RBI in 133 games with the Yankees in 2012 and was thought only as a defensive upgrade to what the Pirates had in Michael McKenry and ... Read More

Steelers visit young, struggling Jaguars
With combined records of just 2-6, the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-2) and Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4) have not started their respective seasons on much of a positive note. At Jacksonville's EverBank Field on Sunday, the Steelers will try to bounce back from a 27-24 loss to the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while the Jaguars are not only trying to get in the win column, but simply compete in a game. Gus Bradley's team has not recovered from blowing a Week 1 lead at Philadelphia, losing that game by 17 ... Read More
Penguins Cut 3 Rookies; Kapanen, Sundqvist Remain
The Pittsburgh Penguins have waived goaltender Jeff Zatkoff and assigned forward Bobby Farnham and defenseman Brian Dumoulin to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. Zatkoff filled in as the team’s backup goaltender last season after Tomas Vokoun was lost to a season-long injury. The 27-year old had a .912 save percentage in 20 games last season, but the new team management felt that an upgrade was needed this offseason. If Zatkoff clears waivers, he will return to ...
