The Robert Morris Colonials (1-2) had a lot of momentum riding into tonight’s game as they visited No. 6 South Dakota State (2-0). Unfortunately, the Jackrabbits defended their home turf and continue the season undefeated as they rolled over Robert Morris, 34-10. The Penn State Nittany Lions (3-1, 1-0) beat the San Diego State Aztecs (1-3, 0-0) 37-21 on Saturday at Beaver Stadium in a non-conference matchup. Riverhounds playoff run cut short in extra time
The Pittsburgh Riverhounds (11-9-8) went on the road in the first round of the playoffs to visit the New York Red Bulls II (12-10-6). Pittsburgh was able to score early before going into extra time. There, they held a quick lead, however, New York battled back and finished the game with a multi-goal lead, 4-2. Seton Hill 41, Slippery Rock 38 Despite throwing three interceptions, Seton Hill quarterback Christian Strong led the Griffins past nationally-ranked Slippery Rock at home Saturday. Pirates get solid from Liriano in win
Francisco Liriano threw 7.2 innings and reached 200 strikeouts as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago Cubs, 4-0. Hitters came in batting .100 with two strikes against Liriano [12-7], and in this game, Cubs batters were 0-for-16. By reaching 200 strikeouts, Liriano is one away from tying a career-high set in 2010 with the Minnesota Twins.
