After barely any offense Saturday night, the Pirates broke out this afternoon and had eighteen hits. A solid game pitched by A.J. Burnett also helped the five game losing streak come to an end. Burnett pitched eight very good innings, while striking out eleven, and allowing one run. He hadn't had a win in over a month, and his outing today was very impressive and one of the better ones of the second half. Chad Qualls pitched a hitless ninth to close the game out. A productive fifth inning ... Read More

‘Cutch’ No Longer the MVP and It’s Not His Fault
Barring a late-season win streak, the Pirates will surely clinch their 20th consecutive losing season. Just like last year, the season will end with an epic collapse to erase what was a competitive four months of baseball. And yet, there is one major difference between last year's collapse and this year. Andrew McCutchen is still playing at an All-star level. He hasn't put up the same numbers we saw in May and June but asking a player to hit 7-8 home runs while batting .370 is asking for ... Read More

Pirates lose fifth straight, lose series to Astros
The Pirates lost once again tonight and now stand three games under .500. They lost the series against the Astros and will try to not be swept tomorrow afternoon. With the exception of one pitch, Kevin Correia pitched a solid game. He tied his career high in strikeouts (nine) and pitched six innings. Panthers add athletic point guard to 2013 class
Josh Newkirk, a 6-foot-2, 170 pound guard from Word of God Christian Academy (NC) committed to Pittsburgh Wednesday, choosing the Panthers over the likes of Georgia Tech, Memphis, and Missouri. Newkirk, one of the premier athletes in the 2013 class, is a consensus top-150 prospect, ranking No. 89 and 119 nationally by Scout and Rivals, respectively. His athleticism and quickness allow him to consistently drive the lane and finish above the rim. He’s a combo-guard learning to become a true ... Read More

Who Needs Owners?
This story is why hockey players are my favorite athletes of any sport. While embroiled in a bitter lockout with no end in sight, several players took matters into their own hands. Players like Evgeni Malkin, Sergei Gonchar, Tyler Seguin and more have gone overseas to play in various leagues. However, a few French-Canadians decided that wasn’t good enough. So they just started their own league. Headed up by former Penguin Max Talbot and NY Islander Bruno Gervais, a group of NHLers are ... Read More

Predicting the Big Games of Week 3 in the NFL
Week 3 has a few very intriguing match ups this Sunday. Lets start with Eagles at Cardinals; both teams are 2-0 and both have very good defenses. The Cardinals were able to shut down the Patriots in New England last week which gives me good reason to believe they can shut down Philadelphia's high powered offense. This game will rely on Michael Vick and his propensity for turning the ball over. The first two weeks he has thrown 6 interceptions and if he can keep those in check and use LeSean ... Read More
