Pitt promotes Matt House to defensive coordinator
Pitt Panthers head football coach Paul Chryst announced the filling of three open positions on his staff, including filling the hole of defensive coordinator. Defensive backs coach Matt House was promoted to the role of defensive coordinator, while Chryst hired veteran coach John Palermo as defensive ends and linebackers coach. It’s been almost two months since the last time he won, (December 24th) but Duquesne’s Derrick Colter was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the third time this season Monday morning. In a stretch of two games against Temple and Rhode Island, Colter averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 assists and 3.0 steals. Pirates extend Hurdle through 2014 with option for 2015
Despite two straight late season collapses, the Pirates have announced that they will extend Manager Clint Hurdle through the 2014 season with an option for 2015 according to Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. Hurdle, who is going into his third season as the Pirates manager, was originally signed to a three-year deal in the winter of 2010. Unnamed Teammate Calls out LaMarr Woodley for Poor Performance
According to Ron Cook of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette an unnamed player on the Pittsburgh Steelers roster called out LaMarr Woodley. Woodley had his second straight injury riddled season in 2012, but unlike 2011 when he was on the field he was ineffective. In the initial moments of the game, it seemed as though Duquesne (8-17, 1-10) would have their way with Rhode Island (8-16, 3-8).
