Retrospective: The 2013-2014 Duquesne Dukes
Jim Ferry’s team entered the 2013-2014 season as major underdogs for the second year in a row. In the preseason polls, Duquesne was voted to finish last in the Atlantic 10 conference yet again – nobody believed they would do much better than last year. When looking at the Dukes on paper, it is easy to see what the coaches and pollsters saw. They saw a team with only three returning scholarship players: Derrick Colter, Jerry Jones and Jeremiah Jones. Quevyn Winters, one of the top freshmen in ... Read More

Florida Dominates, Ending Panthers Season
The Florida Gators proved why they were the top seed in the NCAA tournament. They also proved why many Pitt fans cringed at the thought of a third round match up against the prohibitive favorite to win it all. Paced by SEC player of the year Scottie Wilbekin's 21 points, suffocating team defense and rebounding, along with Patric Young's dominating play inside, the Gators cruised to a convincing victory over the Pitt Panthers, 61-45. It is the fourth straight year the Gators have advanced ... Read More

One And Done for Power Head Coach Derek Stingley
One is the loneliest number that you’ll ever do. Derek Stingley is probably feeling rather lonely tonight after being relieved of his duties as head coach of the Pittsburgh Power. Just one game into a brand new season with a practically brand new roster, Stingley was let go on the heels of a disappointing 63-53 loss to the Cleveland Gladiators, a game which saw the Power blow a 17 point lead late in the game. Stingley’s overall record as a head coach is 8-31, another factor that could no ... Read More

Pens bad bounce their way to a 5-4 lose in Detroit
The Pittsburgh Penguins have had a tough time keeping the puck out of their net, as of late. It never helps when the other team scores off their own players. Detroit beat Pittsburgh 5-4 in the last second of overtime on a goal that defined what this game was all about. Of the five goals Detroit scored, three came off Pittsburgh defensemen. Daniel Alfredsson got the Red Wings on the board 7:21 into the first period. Johan Franzen found Alfredsson in the left wing circle who made a move ... Read More
